Abigale Lee
Miller(born on 21st September 1965) is an American choreographer, dance
instructor and a reality television star. Miller is the founder of the Abby Lee
Dance Company, that was a part of the reality series Dance Moms for eight
seasons. Miller admitted guilt on June 27, 2016 , to the charge of felony
bankruptcy fraud. Miller was sentenced to one and five years in federal prison
and released on March 27, 2018. She was diagnosed with lymphoma in April of
2018. It's a kind of cancer that renders you unable walk. She now uses a
wheelchair to get around. Miller was a dancer in her early years in Penn Hills,
Pennsylvania, an Pittsburgh suburb. She attended classes under the tutelage of
her mother at the Maryen Lorrain Dance Studio. In 1980, at age 14, Miller was
given the responsibility for choreographing and coaching for one of the dance
teams of her mother. Miller eventually assumed control of the dance studio and
renamed it Reign Dance Productions. Miller was certified by Dance Masters of
America and was a member of Dance Masters of Pennsylvania Chapter #10 in 1986,
but her membership was cut off in February 2012 after which the DMA saying that
Miller's reality-TV program Dance Moms was "a total mistake in the
representation of our dance educators and their students and is damaging to the
dance industry."
